Business Incubation

people

Business incubation supports young businesses by offering subsidised accommodation asnd access to an excellent network of support services. The objective is to allow the business to start up with minimal costs until they are able to operate on their own. They will receive mentoring support and management expertise to help grow their business. This project is targeted at a step-change in successful new business start-ups in the Falkirk area. It has picked up from successful pilot work carried out by the partners under the Enterprising Falkirk banner and the pilot incubation facilities at Grangemouth and Denny.

eskills academy

This innovative project was formally launched at Falkirk College, February 2005. The Academy concept was initially triggered by Scottish Enterprise National who identified a skills gap in the IT sector. The University of Strathclyde and the University of Paisley have over 30 years experience of delivering high level, high quality ICT training and associated business and leadership training for the Scottish business community. The unique aspect of the academy is its ability to provide a mixed portfolio of industry certified technical and business skils through a comprehensive "structured blended learning" programme using both hands-on and online delivery. The "hands-on" part of the programme is undertaken at a specially equipped facility located at Falkirk College.

The concept of the e-Skills Academy is built on the development and delivery of key ICT and business skills that are based on industry certified and industry recognised programmes matched directly to key job functions identified by the business community. The Certification schemes will include, for example, those offered from Microsoft, Cisco, Sun, Macromedia, CIW amd the Institute of Leadership and Management and will be blended together as required against the following 5 key job roles:
