Developing Business Connections
One of the Falkirk area's clearest advantages is its location in the central belt of Scotland. We are equidistant from Edinburgh and Glasgow and at the intersection of east-west and north-south communication. We have Scotland's largest container port, a gateway to the rest of the world for its international trade.
These advantages have helped develop our logistics, construction and service industry activities. Our location offers potential for further growth and is attractive to businesses which need to draw labour from a wide area.
Through My Future's in Falkirk, we aim to improve access in the Falkirk area for the benefit of local businesses, their customers, suppliers, employees and visitors.
Road and Rail Infrastructure
Despite the advantages of our central location, we recognise that our road networks have reached capacity at key points and need to be extended to support local opportunities.
The Scottish Government's National Planning Framework 2 and Transport Strategy recognise the need to address these transport constraints. Priorities include access to Grangemouth Port (from M9 and via Avon Gorge) and rail electrification to enhance speed and capacity.
Grangemouth Port

The Port of Grangemouth is a key node in Scotland's logistics industry and an attractive location for a range of emerging low carbon industry sectors, including offshore renewables. An industry development framework is now being prepared to help facilitate investment in the area.
Public Transport

National carbon reduction targets will require new transport solutions which meet both economic and environmental needs. My Future's in Falkirk anticipates an increasing focus on this area of work.
Digital Communications
The capacity and speed of digital networks will be an important factor influencing the location of business and industries of the future. We will monitor our competitiveness in this regard and take action where we can enhance digital communications.
