Pupils showcase their Future in Falkirk

Young Ambassadors are teaching other pupils - and businesses - a thing or two about the My Future's in Falkirk initiative!

Pupils from primary schools in the Larbert cluster have taken on the mantle of 'Young Ambassadors', a new scheme which will see them talk up the very best of Falkirk at other schools and events.

And the MFiF Challenge Showcase held last week (27 May) at Carronvale House presented a great opportunity to tell local businesses, officials, members and other pupils how schools can connect with and influence the MFIF initiative.

Julia Swan, Director of Education Services said: "Our Young Ambassadors are doing a terrific job of promoting our area and its exciting future to young people in schools, businesses and the wider community.

"Helping them continue their work will be the first MFiF Teacher in Residence Trudy Guzik. She will work with young people across the whole area to link with the many positive projects and developments currently underway."

Each of the eight primary schools in the Larbert cluster has 15 fully trained Young Ambassadors. A key part of the project is the passing on of information about the My Future's in Falkirk initiative in a confident and engaged manner to peers, parents, teachers and the wider community.

A MFiF Teacher in Residence has also been appointed to link education with business through MFiF initiatives. Trudy Guzik, formerly teaching computing at St Mungo's started in this unique post in May and took the opportunity to meet up with the Young Ambassadors at last week's event.

During the year long appointment Trudy will work with schools from the early years though to secondary and look for opportunities to link in with businesses and projects such as the regeneration of Town Centres, the Helix, the Antonine Wall and the Canal, so that young people will have a greater sense of pride and well being and the realisation that the Falkirk area is a great place to grow up in.

Trudy Guzik, MFiF Teacher in Residence added: "There's lots of good work going on in schools and I'm really looking forward to working with the Young Ambassadors and other pupils across the Falkirk Council area to help them build a future they can be proud of."
